Kendrick Lamar’s Latest Album Debuts On A Chart Amid His Fight With Drake

Kendrick Lamar’s entire catalog is benefiting from his current feud with Drake. The two rappers have been releasing songs for weeks with the aim of insulting one another, and the public is eating it up. Their diss tunes have all become hits on the Billboard charts, but their success doesn’t stop there.

While most of Drake’s albums are falling on several lists, Lamar’s are actually improving their standing. One title—the rapper’s most recent project—is gaining in popularity again, and this week, it even manages to debut on a tally it’s never reached before.

Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers debuts on the Top Streaming Albums chart this frame. The double album finally racked up enough plays on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music (among several others) on a single tracking period to stand as one of the 50 most-streamed full-lengths in the U.S.

This week, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppersopens at No. 49 on the Top Streaming Albums chart. That’s fairly low–in fact, it’s just one position away from the last rung–but every title has to start somewhere!

Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers marks Lamar’s third title to hit the streaming-only albums ranking. He’s previously reached the list with both Damn. and Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. This frame, both of those studio efforts are not only still present, but they rise to new heights.

As it reaches the Top Streaming Albums chart for the first time, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers also gains on the Billboard 200. On the all-encompassing ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths in the country, Lamar leaps more than 100 spaces at once. His title comes in at No. 55 after settling at No. 192 last time around.

According to Luminate, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers moved 16,416 equivalent units in the past tracking period. That consumption number is up 104% from the week before.

Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers manages to return to two other Billboard charts this week. The Grammy-winning full-length is back on the Top Rap Albums list at No. 16. It also finds its way to the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums roster at No. 22. In the past, it’s ruled both of those rankings.
